Creating Griffin Nexus
It all began when I was in secondary school. While choosing my options for Year 9, I came across a subject called Media Studies. I was curious about it and thought it might be a more relaxed, hands-on class where I could explore something different. I quickly learned it involved a lot more work than I expected—but I was right about one thing: it gave me the chance to get creative with cameras and editing, which I instantly loved.
As a young boy who always wanted to show off, being handed a camera and given the freedom to create whatever I wanted felt like a dream. My good friend Tom and I set out to make work that was unique and as entertaining as possible. We produced some very interesting (to say the least) projects during those school years—productions that would go on to inspire me to continue creating at University and into my current life.
My passion for the outdoors, which developed around the same time as my interest in video production. That same friend, Tom, and I would often spend weekends exploring and sleeping in weird and wonderful places around our town. We built campsites, constructed shelters, and learned the basics of fire-making and bushcraft. These were wholesome times—moments that continue to offer me wisdom and hold a special place in my memory.
As we got older, our adventures stretched further afield—to the next town, then the next, until our group grew larger and we found ourselves climbing mountains in Scotland or battling blizzards in the Lake District. I have since gone on to trek across Tanzania, summit many mountains in South Korea, and embark on countless more adventures.
My love for the outdoors—and its ability to liberate the mind and uplift mental well-being—is truly something to behold.
It’s something I want to share with everyone, to inspire them to dip their toe into the vast beauty the world has to offer.
It’s easy to get lost in societal norms and the pressures of work, but with just a small change and a willing attitude,
there’s so much to be discovered—both out there in the world, and within ourselves.
I hope I can make a difference in people’s lives by telling stories, inspiring others to do things they never imagined,
and showcasing what a beautiful and incredible place we truly live in.
